I am an ATHEIST (a gasp! runs through the crowd) and while I agree with the statements made by the speaker below, I don't feel it is neccessary to voice those opinions with such a vitriolic tone.

I'd like to know how other atheists feel about his, and I'd like to know how any theists might try to refute his charges.

I too have wondered why it's considered so awful to be aggressively atheist.

I'm not talking about the simple belief that there is no god but the vocal campaign to convince others of such?

What's wrong with that? Why do believers feel so offended when I try to reason with them on the invalidity of their faith and the abusive nature of religious institutions? Christians are proud of their churches and of their centuries old history of proselytizing and evangelism but heaven forbid that some atheist infidel should attempt to convert anyone to his point of view!

(just an FYI -- I consider myself more Agnostic than anything. "Yeah, there's something out there" kinda person.)

I have a difficult time with anyone thumping anything due to JWism! Take the <idealism> away and it all sounds the same.

If you want to go about shouting "God is Dead" you're protected in the US Constitution. Have at it.

I'm not going to shout to you that I believe in local god/desses and do my best to respect them and you should to... Not my style..
